New Delhi, June 12
Two soldiers are feared to have been washed away in a river in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. Anjaw is located in the far-eastern corner of the state that shares boundary with China.
Naik Prakash Singh and Lance Naik Harender Singh, deployed at a forward post in Arunachal Pradesh, are presumed to have accidentally fallen into a fast-flowing river near their post, an Army spokesperson said. Intensive search operations have been on to trace them since May 28.
Despite extensive search and rescue operations, including aerial reconnaissance and tracker dogs being pressed into action, there has been no success so far. The search operations are continuing for the past two weeks. A court of inquiry to investigate into the incident has been convened by the Army.
Both soldiers belonged to Uttarakhand.
