In all, 229 antiquities have been retrieved from other countries since 2014, the highest (178) from the US. The number of antiquities retrieved has increased over the years — from two in 2014 to 159 in 2021 and 30 in 2022 so far, said the Ministry of Culture in the Lok Sabha on Monday. “The government is committed to bringing back the antiquities of Indian origin which were taken out illegally,” Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy said. Gig workers to grow to 2.35 cr in 2030

Minister of State for Labour Rameswar Teli on Monday said in the Lok Sabha that the number of gig workers was projected to rise from 77 lakh in 2020 to 2.35 crore in 2030. “The NITI Aayog, in its report titled ‘India’s Booming Gig and Platform Economy’, has made suggestions for designing initiatives such as paid sick leave, health and accident insurance, old-age support and support to workers in a situation of irregularity of work,” he said in response to a query. tns

ED registered 3,985 PMLA cases in 10 yrs

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Lok Sabha that in the last 10 years, the ED had registered 24,893 cases under the Foreign Exchange Management Act and 3,985 cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The minister said that till March 31, 2022, action under the PMLA resulted in the attachment of proceeds of crime to the tune of Rs 1,04,702 crore. tns

‘Severe’ air quality days in Delhi down

The government on Monday informed the Lok Sabha that the number of “severe” air quality days in Delhi had reduced by 78 between 2016 and 2021, and that there was an improvement of 89 days in good, moderate air quality days over the same period.
