New Delhi, December 16
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of three additional judges of the Bombay High Court as permanent judges.
The Collegium headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana took the decision at a meeting on December 14, the top court announced it on its website on Thursday.
The three additional judges recommended for appointment as permanent judges of the Bombay High Court are: Madhav Jayajirao Jamdar, Amit Bhalchandra Borkar and Shrikant Dattatray Kulkarni.
Additional judge Justice Abhay Ahuja has been given a fresh term as additional judge of the Bombay HC from March 4, 2022. However, Justice Pushpa Ganediwala — additional judge of the Bombay High Court who delivered the controversial “skin-to-skin” judgment in a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act—has not got any extension or confirmation so far. Her tenure as an additional judge is due to expire in February next year. The Supreme Court has already overturned her verdict.
The Collegium has also recommended additional judge Aniruddha Roy of the Calcutta High Court to be made permanent. — TNS
