Supreme Court reiterates 11 names for judgeship in 4 HCs

The Supreme Court Collegium reiterated its earlier recommendations for the elevation of 11 names—eight advocates and three judicial officers—for appointment as judges in the high courts of Delhi, Kerala, Calcutta and Chhattisgarh.

According to decisions taken by the Collegium led by CJI NV Ramana on November 11 after reconsideration of the names returned by the Centre, the names reiterated are advocates Tara Vitasta Ganju, Anish Dayal, Amit Sharma and Mini Pushkarna for Delhi HC; Shoba Annamma Eapen, Sanjeetha Kalloor Arakkal and Aravinda Kumar Babu Thavarakkattil for Kerala HC; judicial officers Ananya Bandyopadhyay, Rai Chattopadhyay and Subhendu Samanta for Calcutta HC and Sachin Singh Rajput for Chhattisgarh HC.

The Collegium has recommended the appointment of senior advocate Saurabh Kirpal as a Delhi HC judge. It also approved the proposal for elevation of advocate K Manmatha Rao and judicial officer BS Bhanumathi as judges of Andhra Pradesh HC. — TNS
