Central Government ministries and departments received over 6.4 lakh public grievances until June 30 this year, government data shows, days after the timeline for the disposal of complaints was cut from 45 to 30 days.
In all, 6,43,099 public grievances were filed on the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System this year with the Department of Financial Services (Banking Division) topping the charts with 96,741 grievances.
The other top 10 complaint receiving departments of the government are the Ministry of Labour and Employment (67,972), followed by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (35,370), Department of Posts (28,627), Railways (28,517) and Telecom Department (26,646).
The next four among the top 10 grievance receiving segments this year are the Department of Personnel and Training (23,637), Home Ministry (22,766), Department of Health (21,397) and the Ministry of Cooperation (20,356). The least complaints were received by Ministry of Development of NE Region (97), Department of Official Language (168) and Fisheries Department (172).
Of the 6,43,099 complaints this year, 5,48,303 (85.25 per cent) have been disposed of . The redressal rate was 78.77 per cent in 2014, improving to 84.84 per cent in 2015 and staying above 90 per cent through 2016 and 2021. — TNS
