Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has suspended nine officials, including two of State Administrative Services (RAS), and served charge sheet to three others for “dereliction of their duty” towards public grievances. Gehlot came across the “lapse” during a videoconferencing with the district collectors yesterday evening.

The CM was dissatisfied with the performance of several districts, which included Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pali, Jalore, Karauli, Bharatpur Dausa and Ajmer, in respect to public delivery system on various programmes and schemes, a CMO official mentioned in a statement late last night.

Suspension letters have been issued to two RAS officials Suresh Kumar Bunkar and Jaisingh, and others, including Buvneshwar, Ashok Kumar Vishnoi, Raphal Sharma, Satynaryan Kachwaha and Vikram Singh, for laxity in disposing of complaints received through the Jan Sampark portal. Kartar Singh of Jalore, Dilip Kumar and Kailash Prasad Meena (both of Ajmer) were served separate charge sheet.

Expressing concern over 4.75 lakh cases pending in revenue courts, the CM said the cases older than 10 years must be disposed of in three months, those older than five years in six months, and the cases older than three years should be cleared in 12 months.

Gehlot also ordered for the removal of the compulsion of personal appearance of a beneficiary before an official to get the benefits of social security pension schemes.

District collectors and senior officials were asked to be present during the ‘Jan Sunvai’ (public hearing) being conducted by the minister-incharges in their constituencies.

The CM said the collectors were the face of the government so they should work with sensitivity to ensure good governance.
