Indicating a high level of exposure in Mumbai, the latest round of sero survey conducted by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has shown that 90 per cent of the surveyed population had antibodies to Sars-Cov2.
The survey was done between August and September and covered 8,674 individuals of which 65 per cent were vaccinated.
The survey revealed a higher level of sero prevalence in females — 88.29 per cent — as compared to 85.07 per cent males.
This was the fifth round of sero survey in Mumbai, which remained the epicentre of Covid-19 for most part of the first and second waves.
As of today, Kerala is leading the new infections, with 68 per cent contribution to the Covid cases logged over the last week. Kerala had more than 1 lakh active cases (1,99,248) ahead of Maharashtra which had 53,220. Kerala has 56.80 per cent of India’s total active cases, while Maharashtra has 15.16 per cent.
