chandigarh: Shoma Anand’s actor-director husband Tariq Shah passed away on Saturday. Tariq had been suffering from kidney ailment for two years. The cause of his demise is said to be double pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Shoma and daughter Sarah. As an actor, he worked in films such as “Bahaar Aane Tak”, “Mumbai Central”, “Ehsaas”, “Gumnaam Hai Koi” and many more. As a director, he is known for TV show “Kadwa Sach” and movie “Janam Kundali”. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
