Gujarat passes Bill on forcible conversion
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Assembly on Thursday passed an amendment Bill which provides for a prison sentence of up to 10 years and a maximum fine of Rs 5 lakh for fraudulent or forcible conversion by marriage. The Bill amended a 2003 law that penalises religious conversion through coercion or allurement. PTI
Lt Gen Singh takes over Western Command
Jammu: Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh took over as the Chief of Staff (CoS) of the Western Command on Thursday, a defence spokesman said here. Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Bhinder also took over as the chief of the Jaipur-based South Western Command of Army. PTI
