New Delhi, August 4

The second shift of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG scheduled for Thursday was cancelled across all centres while its first shift was postponed at some centres in 17 states due to administrative and technical reasons, the National Testing Agency said.

From aug 12-14

  • The cancelled second shift (3 pm to 6 pm) exam will now be conducted from Aug 12-14
  • Same admit card will be valid
  • In case the August 12-14 schedule is not suitable, the candidates can send mail at [email protected] mentioning the desired date

“Due to various administrative and technical reasons, the CUET-UG scheduled for August 4 (first shift) has been postponed to August 12 for a few examination centres in 17 states,” said Sadhana Parashar, NTA Senior Director. The centres are in Ambala (Haryana) and New Delhi. Because of technical reasons, the question paper for the second shift of the examination could only be uploaded at 5 pm and the download at 489 centres started at 5.25 pm even as the exam was scheduled to begin at 3 pm, she said.

Based on the recommendations of observers and coordinators, the second shift (3 pm to 6 pm) was cancelled and it would now be conducted between August 12 and 14, she said. “The same admit card will be valid. In case the August 12-14 schedule is not suitable, candidates can send an e-mail to [email protected] mentioning their desired date and roll number,” she said. The CUET-UG was scheduled from July 15 to August 20 at 489 centres in 259 cities across India and nine cities outside India.

Several candidates travelled from far-off places to reach the examination centre only to learn that the test had been cancelled. The social media was teeming with complaints and experiences of harrowed students.

“There was complete ruckus at examination centres,” some of them wrote, demanding clarity. This showed how irresponsibly the NTA was taking examinations, another aspirant wrote.
