Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, was today granted bail by the Bombay High Court in a case of seizure of drugs aboard a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast even as the Pune police arrested NCB witness Kiran Gosavi in a cheating case of 2018.

Aryan Khan has been granted bail 25 days after his arrest by the NCB. He is, however, not likely to walk out of the jail immediately as the court is yet to give its operative order on the conditions imposed while granting bail.

Aryan Khan’s advocates sought permission to submit cash bail to which the court refused and said surety is to be given. “I could have given the order tomorrow also. But I gave it today,” Justice Sambre said.

The legal team of 23-year-old Aryan Khan will now try to complete the formalities for his release by Friday or Saturday. Gosavi, whose selfie and video with Aryan Khan had gone viral, was produced in a court that remanded him in police custody till November 5. Recently, Prabhakar Sail, another witness in the Aryan Khan case, had claimed that he had overheard Gosavi telling one Sam D’Souza on the phone about a demand of Rs 25 crore, and “to settle at Rs 18 crore as they have to give Rs 8 crore to Sameer Wankhede”, the Zonal Director of the NCB who supervised the raid on the cruise ship.

On Monday, Gosavi had refuted Sail’s claim and said he would surrender before the Lucknow police. Gosavi did not surrender but was arrested while being on the run, moving from place to place in UP, Maharashtra and Telangana. — PTI
