New Delhi, June 6
A day after the meeting with party general secretaries and heads of various wings, BJP president JP Nadda on Sunday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with senior functionaries and in-charge of states, sources said.
The focus was welfare and relief works in the past year, including the Covid pandemic, by the party and issues related to upcoming Assembly elections, including Uttar Pradesh, they said
Yesterday, Nadda reviewed Covid welfare and relief works undertaken under the ‘Sewa hi Sangathan’ campaign by the BJP to mark the seventh anniversary of the Narendra Modi government with senior functionaries and heads of various wings, including youth, SC, ST, women, and farmers to review. He also discussed preparations for the Assembly elections. BJP’s in charge of UP, Radha Mohan Singh, was also present in Nadda’s meeting yesterday.
Facing criticism over “mismanagement” at the central and state level during the second wave of Covid, sources said the party has also decided to prepare around one lakh health volunteers across the country, who will be given training in operating medical equipment.
Party workers have also asked to reach out to at least one lakh jhuggi clusters to help and assist people and families affected by the global pandemic, they added.
The next year will see assembly polls in five BJP-ruled states — Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Goa — along with Punjab.
