Chinese kits to ascertain disease curve
India received 5 lakh rapid antibody test kits from two Chinese firms. The ICMR, however, clarified that the kits were not meant for Covid diagnosis as these only detect antibodies to the virus. “These kits are meant only for surveillance of trends in disease hotspots.” The errors in the kits, as seen in some tests, will not matter as they are not being used to test people, said ICMR.

ICMR says there is no evidence to suggest the virus causing Covid will dilute as summer arrives and peaks. “The virus is yet to see summer. Let us wait and watch.”

Health sub-centres to offer dialysis services
*Health ministry has written to states to ensure essential health services through hospitals barring dedicated Covid hospitals.
*Immunization will be provided on a fixed day by every state. Also, health sub-centres will monitor pregnant women, patients of TB, leprosy, HIV and dialysis and provide these services.
