Rajyogini Dadi Janki, chief administrator of Brahma Kumaris, the world’s largest spiritual organisation run by women, passed away at the age of 104 after a protracted illness at Global Hospital at Mount Abu in the wee hours of Friday.
Dadi had been suffering from respiratory and stomach-related ailments for the past two months, organisation’s PR chief Bhai BK Komal said. Her last rites were performed at the Shantivan campus of the institution in Mount Abu, Komal said.
Dadi Janki used to take care of the administration of 140 centres of Brahma Kumaris spread over the world.
She was appointed the brand ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the government for her work in the field of maintaining cleanliness.
President Ram Nath Kovind said her contributions in the field of spirituality, social welfare and women empowerment had been invaluable.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed grief over her demise saying, “Rajyogini Dadi Janki ji served society with diligence. She toiled to bring a positive difference in the lives of others. Her efforts towards empowering women were noteworthy. My thoughts are with her countless followers in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”
Born in 1916, Dadi Janki dedicated her life to spiritual service at the age of 21 after coming into contact with the Brahma Kumaris.
