In a New Year gift to the people, the J&K government is likely to restore broadband service in the Valley this week in view of the improved law and order situation, official sources said. On October 14, the government had restored post-paid mobile phone services in Kashmir but without Internet facilities.On August 17 partial fixed line telephony was resumed. About 50,000 landlines were made operational on Sept 4.
