Darapuri said that several people, including women, were beaten in the Hazratganj and Hussainganj police station in the presence of Lucknow SSP Kalanidhi Naithani.

“It is a matter of shame that the police mercilessly beat up people at the Hazratganj and Hussainganj police stations. People were beaten up twice. The SSP Lucknow should feel ashamed. He ordered women to be beaten up in front of him,” he said.

Congress city president Mukesh Singh Chauhan told PTI that both walked out of jail at about 10 am.

“I was there along with other office party office bearers to receive them. Our party is against the CAA and against police brutality meted out to the peaceful protestors,” he said.

Sadaf was arrested on Dec 19 and Darapuri the next day. —with PTI
