Campaigning also ended for by-polls in Assembly seats spread across the country, including 28 crucial constituencies in Madhya Pradesh that will decide the fate of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in the State. It was a bitter campaign between two main rivals, BJP and Congress, peaking with leaders trading charges.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia claimed that former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who was also censured for calling a female politician an “item”, called him a “dog”.

“Kamal Nath ji came here to Ashoknagar and called me a dog. Haan, Kamal Nath ji, main kutta hoon (Yes, I am a dog) because the public is my master. Yes, I am a dog, because a dog protects its master,” he said.

Meanwhile, in an interesting slip of the tongue, Scindia also asked people to vote for his former party Congress. In the video that went viral on the social medai, Scindia can be heard saying, “My people of Dabra, raise your hand and make your fist to convince (state chief minister) Shivraj Singh and me, make us believe that you will press the ‘hand’ button on November 3”. However, he immediately corrected his sentence, appealing for votes for “kamal” the symbol of the saffron party.
