New Delhi, July 9
A day after registering an FIR, the CBI on Saturday questioned former Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey in Mumbai in connection with a case relating to illegal phone tapping of National Stock Exchange (NSE) employees, officials said.
Following the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the CBI on Friday registered a fresh case, naming Pandey and others. The officials said sleuths had been conducting searches across the country.
The FIR mentioned the names of former NSE chief Chitra Ramakrishna, Ravi Narain and Pandey for allegedly tapping the phones of NSE officials. A 1986-batch Indian Police Service officer, Pandey retired from the service on June 30.
During the investigation, it was found that Pandey was closely related to the functioning and activities of a company, iSec Securities Pvt Ltd. The company had conducted a security audit of the NSE around the time when the alleged irregularities took place. — TNS
