Chit fund: 2 absconders held

New Delhi, March 18
The CBI today claimed to have arrested Saket Banerjee and Kamaljeet Banerjee, directors of an Asansol (West Bengal)-based chit fund company, who had been absconding from Gomti Nagar (Lucknow) ever since the registration of a CBI case against them.
CBI spokesperson RJ Joshi said, “Both arrested accused were produced in a court that remanded them in judicial custody.”
“The accused allegedly entered into a conspiracy with other directors of the company and induced public with a promise of unrealistically high returns on their investments. They, however, fled without paying the maturity amount,” Joshi said.
