CM Baghel recalled to Delhi amid worsening Chhattisgarh Congress crisis

New Delhi, August 26
In signals that all might not be going well for Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Congress leadership has recalled him to New Delhi on Friday.
Baghel had returned to Chhattisgarh only on Wednesday and claimed the government was working well.
Embattled within his own dispensation, Baghel will meet AICC general secretary organisation KC Venugopal tomorrow amid signals that the party might call MLAs soon to get their views on the issue of governance in the state.
Baghel is likely to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi again this week after a recent meeting he had with the former Congress chief.
Meanwhile, Baghel’s rival and Health Minister TS Singhdeo has been adamant that the CM post be rotated as agreed upon when the party swept elections in 2018.
Deo and Baghel were to share power in the state as per a formula proposed when Baghel was chosen to lead.
Sources say Rahul Gandhi has not taken well to a recent move of the Chhattisgarh government to acquire through law a cash strapped private medical college owned by members of the family where Baghel’s daughter is married.
TS Singhdeo had taken a position against this law and questioned “corruption”.
Sources say space for Baghel appears to be shrinking.
