Coronavirus: IIT-Delhi students shout ‘Jai Corona’ after institute suspends classes; video goes viral

A viral video of IIT-D students dancing in delight because of the institution’s decision to suspend classes until March 31 because of the outbreak of coronavirus appears as a ray of light as the country grapples with mounting cases of the deadly virus.
The video is undated, but is clearly one that was uploaded after the IIT-D’s March 12 decision to shut down the institute. The video shows students chanting “Jai corona” as the dance around the room.
o put things into perspective, IIT-Delhi has cancelled all classes and examinations till March 31 in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
“In view of the COVID situation, IIT Delhi has decided to cancel all classes, examinations and public gatherings with immediate effect on the campus until March 31. Please inform all concerned,” tweeted IIT Director V. Ramgopal Rao on Thursday.
Earlier during the day, the Delhi government declared coronavirus as an epidemic and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced closure of all cinema halls and educational institutions, where no examination was underway, till March 31 to check the coronavirus spread.
