New Delhi, March 18
A PIL has been filed in the Supreme court seeking a ban on protests for and against the Citizenship Amendment Act across India given the COVID-19 outbreak that has been declared to be a pandemic.
Filed by Hindu Dharma Parishad, the petition sought strict guidelines to deal with political, religious and other kinds of protests.
It said there should be a ban on agitation or procession in favour or against the CAA till the petitions challenging its validity were decided by the top court.
The petitioner also urged the court “to ban the electronic telecommunications internet, Facebook, Watsapp, telegram, posters, flex banner or any other electronic transfer communication regarding any statement or videos of anti-CAA campaign/propaganda throughout India pending disposal of the case.”
