Covid death toll breaches 400 mark; 120 new positive cases in Rajasthan

With three patients dying of the coronavirus, the death toll reached 402, whereas the cumulative positive cases touched 17,392 with 121 new cases in Rajasthan on Monday.

Two patients succumbed to the virus in Jodhpur and one in Kota city.

Of the new tally, Bharatpur reported 18 new positive cases, followed by 16 in Kota, 14 in Barmer, 13 in Jaipur, 12 in Nagaur, 11 in Sirohi, 10 in Udaipur, nine in Bikaner, three each in Rajsamand, Pali and Jhunjhunu, two each in Churu and Ajmer, one each in Chittorgarh, Dholpur and Jaisalmer 1, apart from one patient of another state.

Of the total, 13618 patients have recovered. The confirmed cases among migrants are 4,914.

Religious places opening

Religious places in rural areas with footfall of about  50 devotees a day will be opened with all Covid norms and conditions from July 1, while all other religious places in big cities would remain closed till July 31, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said at a special meeting with a coordination committee on religious matters on Sunday night.

CM also announced to stop the 14-day quarantine procedure for migrants and travellers coming from other states.

The Covid-19 awareness program launched on June 21 would be carried up to July 7 in all 33 districts and villages, CM directed.

Police make Rs 2.6 crore collection on various penalties

During the lockdown since March, the Rajasthan Police has collected Rs 2.6 crore in penalties from violators who did not wear masks at work place or public locations, shopkeepers not selling to those wearing masks, persons spitting in public, people drinking at public places and those who did maintain social distancing.

Besides, Rs 9.1 crore was collected from vehicle defaulters during curfew period and moving in containment areas in the state, DG-Crime B L Soni said on Monday.
