New Delhi, January 5
The Congress on Wednesday said it had decided to postpone all rallies in election bound UP in the wake of Covid surge induced by Omicron cases. The party said it would take a call on similar postponements in other election bound states also.
The decision was announced by party spokesperson Gourav Vallabh who said the Congress was taking the lead in putting the people’s health first.
The decision came just a day after a stampede-like situation arose in Bareilly where a girls’ marathon had been organized to push forward Congress’ ladki hoon lad sakti hoon pitch of AICC general secretary UP Priyanka Vadra.
The Congress said its decision had nothing to do with the event yesterday.
At least we have taken the lead, Vallabh said.
