A cow in Karnataka had to undergo a surgery to remove a gold chain, which it had accidentally swallowed during Diwali puja.
As per a report in News 18, Srikanth Hegde and family living in Heepanahalli in Karnataka on Diwali performed Gow puja. For which they bathed the cow and a calf and adorned them with flowers and gold jerellary, which they were to removed after the ceremony.
Cows are considered a form of ‘Lakshmi’, goddess of wealth.
The family had put a gold chain weighing 20 grams around the cow’s neck. After a while when they were to remove the jewellary, which they found missing.
The family started looking for the chain all over. They searched the cow shed as well, but all in vain. They got suspicious that the cow might have swallowed the chain.
For a long time, the family checked the dung religiously, but could not find the chain.
Finally, they went to a veterinary doctor for help. The doctor used a metal detector to confirm the presence of the chain inside the cow’s stomach.
Later, a scan was done and on the family’s request, the cow was operated on surgically and the gold chain was removed. The family is relieved to get their gold chain back and the cow is now said to be recovering.
