A day after Narayan Rane was arrested and granted bail over his “slap’ Uddhav Thackeray remark, the war of words between the Union Minister and his former party, Maharashtra’s ruling Shiv Sena, continued.

Sena mouthpiece “Samana” described the BJP leader as a “balloon with holes” and compared him to a frog. Sena MP Sanjay Raut also advised him to “learn how to behave and stop disrespecting a sitting Chief Minister who is equal to the Prime Minister when it comes to protocol and dignity”.

Rane, meanwhile, said even Thackeray had used unparliamentary words while referring to BJP leaders Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath.

Won’t take coercive action, MAHA TELLS HC

  • The Maharashtra Government told the Bombay High Court on Wednesday that it would not take any coercive action against Union Minister Narayan Rane in the FIR lodged in Nashik over his controversial remarks against CM Uddhav Thackeray.
  • A Division Bench of Justices SS Shinde and NJ Jamadar was hearing a petition filed by Rane, seeking to quash the FIR registered in Nashik and all cases that may be lodged in future. PTI

The Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Narendra Modi Cabinet thanked cadres and colleagues for standing by him and claimed that he had not said anything wrong. “I am not afraid of anyone and I am not backing out. My words were an expression of anger against the CM (Thackeray) who forgot the year of India’s Independence,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Yavatmal district BJP chief Nitin Bhutada today submitted an application demanding registration of an FIR against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray alleging he had called for beating his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath with chappals for “insulting” Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during his speech at a Dasehra rally of Shiv Sena.
