New Delhi, October 26

With work on the country’s first bullet train connecting Mumbai-Ahmedabad progressing, the government is focussing on other routes, including one between Delhi and Amritsar via Chandigarh.

Earlier this month, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited invited bids for survey of the 465-km project to identify both overhead and underground utilities and power source options, including substations, along the proposed corridor.

Travel time 2 hrs

  • The bullet train will cut travel duration by four hours
  • Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi covers the 465-km distance in 6 hrs
  • The bids for the survey report will be opened on Nov 10

As per documents in public domain, the bids have to be submitted between November 3 and November 9 and will be opened the next day.

The Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar route is among other corridors identified for high-speed rail network in the country for which detailed project report would be needed.

The other projects include Varanasi-Patna-Howrah, Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru and Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad. — TNS
