Seen as a possible fallout of the political slugfest between the BJP and the TMC, the Union government on Friday issued an order recalling Chief Secretary of West Bengal Alapan Bandyopadhyay to Centre and asked him to report to the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) here by 10 am on May 31, 2021.

In the order, Under Secretary in the DoPT Anshuman Mishra said, “I am directed to inform that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the placement of the services of Shri Alapan Bandyopadhyay, IAS (WB: 1987) with the Government of India, as per provisions of rule 6(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) rules, 1954, with immediate effect.”
