Solan, June 11
The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) will review product permissions granted to Himachal firms for certain drug formulations allegedly being misused as intoxicants.
The image of the state’s drug industry has been severely affected after two firms of Kala Amb and Paonta Sahib were booked for various violations. The seizure of a large amount of opioid drugs worth crores of rupees manufactured by them were found diverted for use as intoxicants in Punjab.
State Drugs Controller Navneet Marwaha said, “Nine manufacturers in Solan and one in Kala Amb are being inspected. Manufacturing has been stopped at two firms of Baddi and show-cause notices have been served on six others.”
For interstate sale of drugs, manufacturers had been told to inform the local drugs inspector and the SP, he said.
