In a tragic incident, a drunk son beheaded his 65-year-old mother after she refused to give him money to buy liquor. The incident came to light yesterday morning. P Ramulu, 45, has been arrested.
Villagers found the headless body of Chandramma inside the house and alerted the police. Kurumurthy, the elder son, suspected his younger brother, who was used to alcoholic misbehaviour. Upon search, the severed head of the old woman was found in a water tank near the house.
The police have recovered a sickle used in the crime.
Kollapur Circle Inspector Venkat Reddy, the investigating officer, said, “He (Ramulu) was addicted to alcohol and had been harassing his mother daily. In the wee hours, he killed and beheaded her. We have registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s elder son.”
This is the second such incident in the state. Earlier, a woman’s husband had beheaded her in Anantasagar village of Sangareddy over suspicion of an extramarital affair.
