ED nabs head of PFI’s political front
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested MK Faizy, the national president of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), on charges related to money laundering linked to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). Faizy was later produced before a local court, which granted the ED six days of custody for interrogation.
Special Judge Chander Jit Singh of the Patiala House Court approved the ED’s request for custody and directed that Faizy be presented before the court on Monday after the completion of his remand period.
According to the ED, SDPI has been a recipient of proceeds of crime generated by the PFI, estimated at Rs 4.07 Crore.
