A problem with the electric engine pulling the 15633 Bikaner-Guwahati Express was to blame for derailment of the train near Domahani in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on Thursday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said today.

Nine persons were killed and 36 injured in the accident. “Preliminary findings suggest there was an issue with the equipment of the locomotive,” Vaishnaw said at the accident site. — TNS
