Hyderabad, November 28

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched an “Save Amravati” campaign after the new YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government decided to abandon the capital project for the bifurcated state of Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu took a tour of Amravati along with thousands of supporters to force the government to reconsider its decision to prevent Amaravati from turning into a “ghost” town following World Bank’s withdrawal of a $300 million loan offer for the city. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has also withdrawn its $200-million loan offer. — TNS
