Fast-track court set up for vet rape case trial

The four accused in the Hyderabad gangrape and murder case will be tried in a fast track court and the verdict is expected to be delivered in record time. The Telangana Government issued a notification yesterday that was accorded a go-ahead by the Telangana High Court today.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge in Mahabubnagar ia set up for the speedy trial of the rape and murder of Disha (name changed) in Cr No 784/2019 of Shadnagar police station, reads the GO no 639 of December 3, 2019. The Telangana High Court gave its approval sent to it by the Law Secretary.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has already directed the officials to initiate the process for setting up the court to ensure expeditious trial and stringent punishment to the guilty. A similar fast track court was set up in Warrangal District where the trial in a similar matter was disposed of in a conviction for the accused in record 56-days.
