Four High Court Chief Justices shifted, 4 judges elevated

Four High Court Chief Justices, including Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, were transferred on Thursday. Four judges were elevated as HC Chief Justices.

Justice Maheshwari has been transferred to the Sikkim High Court as its new Chief Justice in place of Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, who will be the new Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh HC. Justice RS Chauhan, the Telangana HC Chief Justice, has been transferred as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand HC. Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq of the Orissa HC will be the new Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh HC. Justice S Muralidhar of the Punjab and Haryana HC has been elevated as Chief Justice of the Orissa HC. Delhi High Court’s Justice Hima Kohli has been elevated as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. Justice Pankaj Mithal of the Allahabad HC has been made Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Justice Sanjib Banerjee of the Calcutta HC has been appointed Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

Justice Rajesh Bindal of the Jammu and Kashmir HC has been posted to the Calcutta High Court. Justice Ravi R Malimath has been sent to the Himachal Pradesh HC from Uttarakhand.— PTI
