Gallantry medals awarded to Army personnel in Bikaner

Lieutenant General Alok Kler, the South Western Army Commander, on Saturday awarded gallantry and distinguished service medals to Army personnel at a solemn investiture ceremony conducted at Anant Vijay Auditorium in Bikaner.
The South Western Command, based at Jaipur, includes the 10 Corps at Bathinda and the 1 Strike Corps at Mathura, which had its division in Hisar.
One Yudh Seva Medal, 20 Sena Medal (Gallantry), two Sena Medal (Distinguished Service) and six Vishisht Seva Medal were awarded.
Paratrooper Mukut Bihari Meena and Sepoy Mandeep Singh made the supreme sacrifice during operations and were given the award posthumously.
Twenty one units were awarded the “Unit Citation” for their outstanding contribution. The Commanding Officers and Subedar Majors of the units received the award from the Army Commander. Lt Gen Kler later interacted with the award winners and their families.
Underlining the use of non-state actors in terror activities by Pakistan, Lt Gen Kler said the Indian Army was prepared to deal with any situation. He said the training of non-state actors “was a part of the military design of the neighbouring country”.
