Goa cops turn Santas, educate motorists

Panaji: Celebrating the Christmas spirit, the Goa traffic police on Tuesday adopted a unique way to educate traffic violators in the capital city. Dressed as Santa Claus, traffic police constables distributed chocolates and educated motorists and two-wheeler riders about traffic safety regulations. “We intercepted violators and educated them about their safety. We used the occasion to spread the message in our own special way,” inspector Brandon D’Souza of the Panaji traffic police said. PTI

‘Bhoot Vidya’ a legitimate study at BHU now

Varanasi: Now one can learn “Bhoot Vidya” or the “science of paranormal” in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) which is starting a six-month certificate course on the subject. Bhoot Vidya is essentially psychotherapy and in the six-month certificate course, the doctors will be taught about remedies and psychotherapy to treat psychosomatic disorders and abnormal psychological conditions caused by unknown reasons which many consider a Bhoot (ghosts). The first set of classes will begin from January and will be conducted by the faculty of Ayurveda. IANS

Tripura gets its first flying officer 

Agartala: Tripura lad Arunabha Chakraborty (21) has not only become the first flying officer from the northeastern state, but has also outshined his peers to bag the Sword of Honour and President’s Plaque awards for standing first in the pilots’ course at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Hyderabad. “Since my childhood, I had a dream to be a pilot. Today, I achieved it. I also feel that anyone from Tripura can try and achieve this feat,” Chakraborty said. IANS
