‘Have set example in coop federalism’

When we look back, people will remember that we have presented an example for cooperative federalism to the world. We have tried to save each and every life.

On the opening day of two-day video-conference with chief ministers, PM Modi noted that efforts during the past few weeks showed a rise in power consumption, sale of fertilisers, increase in kharif sowing as compared to last year, rise in production and demand for two-wheelers, increase in retail digital payment, toll collections and also exports.

Stating that health experts the world over were praising the discipline shown by Indians, he said at present the recovery rate in the country was over 50 per cent and India was amongst the nations with the least deaths due to the disease. A big lesson, he said, was that if all remained disciplined and followed rules, Covid-19 would cause least damage.

Stressing on the Atma-nirbhar (self-reliance) campaign, he asked all states to work together so that programmes could be rolled out faster. He said all states should work in tandem to set up value chains to give fillip to trade and industry. Thanking the CMs for their views, he underscored the importance of being focussed on both life and livelihood. Today’s interaction saw participation by 21 states and UTs.
