RI Instruments and Innovation India, Haldwani (Uttarakhand), has been conferred with the National Award for Technology Innovation in the category of plastic waste management of downstream plastic processing techniques. Dr Rajendra Joshi, MD of the company, received the award from Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilsers DV Sadananda Gowda in Bangalore for inventing Graphen/Li/S based batteries with replacable electrodes, according to a press release.

Joshi said the company researched the solution to the problem of increasing the life cycle and the charge storage capacity of batteries with the facility of replaceable electrode at the click of a push button. “A provision of replaceable cathodes has been made to address the problem of environment hazards, as users won’t be throwing away waste batteries to harm the environment,” he added.

He said, “The basic materials used in the preparation of batteries are waste polymers and harmful wild grasses”.
