Harsh Vardhan Shringla holds talks with US envoy Daniel B Smith on ways to combat Covid

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Wednesday held talks with US Charge D’Affaires Daniel B Smith focusing on ways to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, including supply of vaccines.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said regional issues, and cooperation in the United Nations also figured in the “productive meeting”.
Vax supply discussed
The Foreign Secretary had a productive meeting with US Acting Ambassador Daniel B Smith about India-US relations. Also discussed the Covid-19 situation and supply of vaccines.
“Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla had a productive meeting today with US Acting Ambassador Daniel B Smith about India-US relations, regional issues and cooperation in the UN. Also discussed the Covid-19 situation, supply of vaccines & cooperation in combating the pandemic,” he tweeted.
The meeting came days after US Vice President Kamala Harris called up PM Modi and apprised him about the Biden administration’s plans to make Covid vaccines available to India and several other countries.
Following the phone conversation, the MEA said the two leaders discussed the vaccine supply chain between the US and India. — PTI
