Heavy rain likely in northern region

New Delhi, January 4

Two consecutive active western disturbances (WD), along with their induced systems, with moisture incursion from Arabian Sea are set to impact the weather over northwest and adjoining central India over the next seven days. Along with a wet spell till January 9, no cold wave conditions are likely over north India during the next six to seven days, the IMD said today.

Under the influence of a prevailing WD, an induced cyclonic circulation has formed over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan at lower tropospheric levels. Along with the moisture feeding from Arabian Sea, heavy rainfall/snowfall can be expected over J&K, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Wednesday.

Rainfall is also likely over many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, north Rajasthan, West UP. Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh may also see thunderstorms and some hailstorm activity tomorrow. — TNS
