Inventory of Sabarimala jewels ordered
New Delhi, February 7
After the controversy over age restriction for entry of women, the Sabarimala Temple in Kerala is in the news following dispute over ornaments of Lord Ayyappa.
The Supreme Court on Friday appointed Kerala High Court’s retired judge CN Ramachandaran Nair to prepare an inventory of ornaments of the deity in view of the conflicting claims made by warring factions of the Pandalam Royal family.
It’s widely believed that Pandalam place is where Lord Ayyappa, the presiding deity of Sabarimala Temple, had his human sojourn as the son of the Raja of Pandalam.
“We are worried only about the security of the sacred ornaments,” a Bench said.
The top court asked Attorney General KK Venugopal to use his good offices to amicably resolve the dispute. — TNS
