New Delhi, July 7
The Congress today said the Cabinet reshuffle was not an exercise driven by performance but one meant to “distribute the spoils of power and adjust defectors.” The Congress’ principal targets were its former leaders Narayan Rane and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said if the Cabinet expansion was done on the basis of performance, then the PM should have been the first to go for “governance failure”. The Finance Minister, Home Minister and Defence Minister too should have been dropped, he said.
Jairam Ramesh said Harsh Vardhan had been made a scapegoat “for failures at the highest level. — TNS
