Former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Arun Mishra on Wednesday assumed charge as new head of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) ending about six month uncertainty due to the post lying vacant.
Justice Mishra had assumed office of apex court judge on July 7, 2014 and retired in September 2020.

The post of Chairman of NHRC chief had been vacant following completion of tenure of the preceding incumbent justice H L Dattu.
