Kargil war: Point 5140 named ‘Gun Hill’

To commemorate the victory of the armed forces and pay tribute to the martyrs of Operation Vijay, Point 5140 at Drass in the Kargil sector has been christened as “Gun Hill”.

Op Vijay was launched during the Kargil war (May-July 1999). The Regiment of Artillery brought down lethal and accurate firepower on enemy troops and defences, including Point 5140. On behalf of the Regiment of Artillery, a wreath was laid by LT Gen TK Chawla at Kargil War Memorial, Drass.
