Keeping in mind the 2024 General Election, the BJP today announced “har ghar Tiranga (Tricolour in every home)” drive to unite people while focusing on “gareeb kalyan (welfare schemes for the poor)”.
The BJP national executive passed a resolution praising PM Narendra Modi’s vision and “nirnay shakti (decision-making)” that steered the country out of the difficult times amid the pandemic.
Proposed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the resolution appreciated various social welfare schemes and bringing 80 crore people under the Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana in the past 25 months.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the resolution hailed the government’s economic policies and the fact that India had registered a “steady growth of 8.7 per cent when the global economy was growing at a rate of about 6 per cent”. The resolution appreciated the PM’s governance model and various schemes.
Terming India’s economic statistics “encouraging”, Pradhan said: “From policy paralysis to a double-digit growth, the financial figures are encouraging. The exports have gone up and so has foreign direct investment. In the past eight years, many path-breaking decisions, ranging from GST to PLI, have been taken.”
The resolution also appreciated Agnipath and the government announcement of providing 10 lakh jobs in the next 18 months. “Jobs have been created, people are engaged”, he said, replying to questions. The party is preparing to reach out to 30 crore beneficiaries of various social welfare programmes, as it did during the recent Assembly polls, especially in UP. Led by president JP Nadda, BJP office-bearers today discussed the outlines of new organisational activities.
BJP vice-president Vasundhara Raje said “har ghar tiranga” would be turned into an mass movement, connecting to 20 crore people in the country. The meeting stressed on leaders undertaking tours, meeting people and reaching out to the booth-level cadre. The party’s organisational and outreach activities will be reviewed at the booth level on a weekly basis.
On inflation and a weakening rupee against the USD, Pradhan said many leading economies were grappling with inflation.Citing the war in Ukraine, he said India could not be viewed in isolation.
