Lokpal Member Justice AK Tripathi (retd) who was admitted to AIIMS New Delhi after testing positive for COVID-19 died on Saturday after he had a cardiac arrest.

Tripathi (62) breathed his last around 9 pm.

AIIMS New Delhi said he was admitted to the Trauma Centre of the institution after being confirmed positive for COVID-19 some days ago.

He had a cardiac arrest this evening and succumbed to that.

A former chief justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, he had been in the AIIMS Trauma Centre, which has been converted into a dedicated COVID-19 hospital.

“He was very sick. He was in the ICU and on ventilator for last three days,” one of the sources said.

Tripathi is one of the four judicial members of the anti-corruption ombudsman, Lokpal. With agency inputs
