Lyricist-poet Ibrahim Ashk dies of Covid

Chandigarh, January 16

Hindi and Urdu poet and lyricist Ibrahim Ashk passed away on Sunday evening due to Covid-19 complications. He was 70.

Ashk was admitted to Mumbai’s Meditech Hospital on Saturday after he complained of breathlessness, his daughter Musaffa said.

He penned hit songs for film “Kaho Na Pyaar Hai”, including its title track, “Na Tum Jano Na Hum” and “Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara”.

Born Ibrahim Khan Gauri in Madhya Pradesh, he used Ashk as his pen name. He started as a journalist. —
