The Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra is on a shaky wicket and could collapse any time, senior Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam told reporters here.
Commenting on the political crisis in Madhya Pradesh, Nirupam said the Congress stood to lose a lot by tying up with the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra to form the government in the state. “If the government falls, the Congress party would be the
biggest loser. It should not have been part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi,” Nirupam said.
Unlike other Congress party leaders, Nirupam felt that Jyotiraditya Scindia should have been wooed and prevented from joining the BJP. “Scindia leaving is a huge loss for the Congress,” he said. Nirupam felt that the party leadership should have intervened and ended the
conflict between Kamal Nath and Scindia in MP. Indicating that the Congress was rudderless, Nirupam felt that Rahul Gandhi should take charge of the party immediately.
Meanwhile, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, who is the architect of the MVA government, ruled out a Madhya Pradesh-like political crisis in Maharashtra. “The Uddhav Thackeray-led government is doing very well in the state,” Pawar said.
On the political crisis in MP, Pawar said Scindia wanted to be rehabilitated quickly following his loss in the Lok Sabha elections.
Like Nirupam, Pawar too felt that the Congress could have stopped Scindia. “There could have been a dialogue with Raja Saheb to prevent this situation,” Pawar said.
