West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee will embark on two-day visit of Goa on Monday in the course of which she will be addressing three public meetings besides taking part in various other programmes in the state where the Assembly elections are slated to take place in coming February.
According to a message posted by TMC’s media wing, Banerjee will address a public meeting at Benaulim in Goa on Monday afternoon. Earlier in the day she will meet editors of prominent media houses of Goa at the International Centre at Dona Paula. This will be followed by a meeting with leaders of TMC unit of Goa at the same venue by her.
On Tuesday, Mamata will address a public meeting at Panjim at three in the afternoon. Two hours later she will address another public meeting at Assanora.
Performance by TMC candidates at the Assembly elections in the coastal state will be key indicator of the success of TMC’s plan to replace Congress as the main opposition party in the country.
Mamata visited Goa in October also as a prelude to her plan to contest in the Assembly elections there. TMC also successfully engineered defection in Congress and got former Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro join TMC. PTI
